May Day 2K: Carnival Against Capitalism
May 1 (Monday), 10 AM
Meet at Victory Square (Hastings @ Cambie)
March begins at 11am and will proceed to the downtown financial district with street
theatre and non-violent direct action. Reclaim May Day as a day of working class protest
and a celebration of the struggle of working peoples the world over for decent wages,
working conditions, and working class power. Strengthen the fight-back against imperialist
globalization, targeting its key architects: the World Trade Organization, International
Monetary Fund, and World Bank as well as the Canadian government and the local and global
capitalists it serves. Demonstrate international solidarity with resistance movements
worldwide fighting for their rights, decent living conditions, and for their social,
economic, political, and cultural survival.
