No Olympics at Britannia!

Resources for action

There lots we can do to work to keep the Olympics out of our community. Here are some places to start...

On Wednesday October 29, Britannia Board is holding their "final" vote on the VANOC proposal. We need to send a strong (and fast) message to the Britannia Board that this decision will impact the entire community, and the Olympics are not welcome in our neighbourhood!

Here's what you can do:

  1. Attend the board meeting on Wednesday Oct. 29th (7 pm) underneath Britannia library.
  2. Email the Britannia Board: britanniacc@vancouver.ca
  3. Email the mayor and city council: mayorandcouncil@vancouver.ca and the parks board: pbcomment@vancouver.ca
  4. Tell all the East Vanners you know about the meeting on the 29th.

Tell the Britannia Board
Write to the Britannia Board and let them know how you feel: britanniacc@vancouver.ca, Britannia Board, 1661 Napier St Vancouver BC.

Tell it to the city

Updates & Events

October 30, 2008
The Britannia Board held their vote last night and the decision of the board (by secret ballot, no less) was 8-5 in favour of allowing VANOC to use Britannia as an Olympics practice venue. This is hugely disappointing, but we plan to keep organizing to resist 2010 and protect our community.

We're going to do a call out for a big community meeting in late November, so check back or sign up for our email list.
